Mr. McIntosh is a highly accomplished and seasoned CFO with a wealth of achievements and experience of defining and successfully implementing visionary strategies for the smooth functioning of multi-national operations. He benefits from strong leadership and mentoring skills, strategic thought leadership and the proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels, which enables the building of respectful trusting relationships with key stakeholders, business partners and team members.
Until recently, Mr. McIntosh was the CFO of Success Academy Charter Schools Inc., a management company for charter schools servicing 12,000 children who all score 95% or better on all tests placing all 38 schools in the top ten of all schools in New York State. He led a team of 20 with five direct reports, responsible for Controllership, Treasury, Budgets & Strategic Planning, Internal Audit, and HR/Payroll, transforming an understaffed group to a strong and efficient Finance Operations Department through the implementation of a number of key process improvement initiatives. For example, he consolidated cash management, implemented six quarter operational budgeting and 5-year cash forecasting; obtained a line of credit, and established a $50M muni-bond offering for real estate acquisition and technology improvement. With an innate understanding of strategic planning and business modeling, Mr. McIntosh leads a balanced management approach for achieving excellent financial & operational results; producing a track record of handling increasing responsible roles across multiple locations. Mr. McIntosh is an organized, collaborative professional with a track record of consistently delivering under pressure in fast paced/high growth environments.
Prior to Success Academy, he was CFO for Orbis International Inc., a global eye care humanitarian organization providing eye health in developing countries in the form of training, treatments, and surgeries – where he had responsibility for the fiscal vision and leadership of the global organization including all finance, strategic planning, technology & insurance, control systems, operations and global risk management. Mr. McIntosh achieved a great deal here including the selection and implementation of a global budgeting, project management and reporting system using a single technology platform, the introduction of activity based costing, as well as negotiating a substantial line of credit.
Previously, Mr. McIntosh held a number of CFO positions with organizations in New York including a cutting edge technology company US Energy Group, and major national life insurance company SBLI USA Life Insurance Company Inc. In 2008 he co-founded an innovative venture-funded SEO start-up, Altruik Inc., winning investor funding to support business launch, leading business plan development and execution, and obtaining VC funding for founding shareholders exit strategy. He directed the sale or merger of these three companies.
Earlier leadership roles have included senior executive roles with Ernst & Young and Coopers & Lybrand. Dennis McIntosh has extensive experience serving on a number of public, private, non-profit and charter school boards.
