Karen Gould

Karen Gould is a thought leader, mentor and advisor with an entrepreneurial spirit and a growth mindset. She has broad experience as a corporate and nonprofit director, senior executive, and technology investor. A systems thinker, Ms. Gould is known for creativity, innovation, and expertise in adaptive leadership, creating shareholder value through collaboration, culture change, and the development of sustainable global business practices. She has diverse industry experience, spanning from Fortune 50 companies to startups, with notable expertise in infrastructure (technology, communications, construction).

She is currently Director, Gil-Bar Industries, backed by Intermediate Capital Group, PLC. and a Board Observer, representing Golden Seeds Venture Fund for Chromatic 3D Materials. She has been an active board member throughout her career, holding leadership positions that included board chairman and serving on audit, nominating, governance, and compensation committees. Her recent board experience includes Orbcomm Inc. (NASDAQ: ORBC), and Turner Construction Company & affiliates. Earlier in her career, Karen was a board member for Puretracks Inc., Canada and Bell Communications Research (Bellcore).

Currently, Ms. Gould is CEO and founder of Gould Consulting Group where she advises boards and the C-suite, and coaches and mentors executives on strategy, ESG integration, and leadership and organizational development. In addition, she is currently Managing Director of Golden Seeds, an early-stage investment firm promoting gender diversity and equitable access to capital for women. She has performed due diligence and invested in eight technology companies as well as leading a $5M Series B investment in Chromatic 3D Materials.

In her previous position, Ms. Gould was Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer & Board Member at Turner Construction Company. She led strategic initiatives that transformed the culture and improved cash flow, tripled earnings, and scaled revenue from $8B to $16B. She served on the Board and oversaw Finance, IT, cybersecurity, risk management, insurance, communications, and marketing with a staff of ~600. She led business continuity planning and execution during the 2020 crisis, co-creating industry-leading response protocols for pandemic, civil unrest, systemic racism, and cybersecurity attacks. She led Turner’s digital transformation, establishing business intelligence capabilities, and improving operational efficiencies.

In earlier positions, Ms. Gould was Senior Vice President, Finance, Residential Services for Bell Canada (C$9B in revenue), and before that at AT&T Corporation, she was Financial Vice President and CFO, AT&T Long Distance Services ($10B in revenue). Previously, she was CFO and Vice President, Administration at SaaS pioneer CenterPost Communications and earlier, Vice President, Finance and CFO, Enterprise Business Services and Director, Treasury at Ameritech.

Ms. Gould holds an M.B.A. with Honors in Finance, Strategy & International Business from University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She has a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Indiana University Kelley School of Business. She is active on the Advisory Board and Real Estate Executive Committee for the Anti-Defamation League in New York and New Jersey, and she sits on the CFO Advisory Board for University of Chicago Booth, where she is also a guest lecturer.
